It is shown experimentally the partial discharges in the electronics equipments occur at pulse operation conditions and high voltage rise (fall), (dU/dt) when the electric fields are rejected to the barriers of the insulation having minimum values of the dielectric permeabi- lity e. The duration of partial discharges is defined by the recharging processes in the self-capacitances of equipments. The partial discharges lead to an accelerated degradation of insulation materials and may cause failures of the equipment due to electrical breakdown. The paper gives some recommendations which allow the partial discharges to be excluded or their occurrence to be shifted to higher voltage levels and their effect on the operation of power electrical equipments to be reduced.
