Evolution of the view-points about image contrast
in transmission electron microscopy

   The analytical review of the methods and approximation to interprete the transmission electron microscope image contrast is given. The mechanisms of the contrast are considered on the images of the both types of finite sized objects amorphous and crystalline. The nature of contrast on the images of the crystal lattice atomic structures is analysed. The object properties corresponding to arising of the amplitude and phase contrast in the image are researched.
