The electron-optical systems (EOS) for forming intensive screw electron beams (SEB) in a relativistic gyrotron are circumscribed. Numerical modeling has allowed to find configurations of electrodes and a magnetic field ensuring a quick (on scale of a gyrofrequency period) departure of electrons from a near-cathode area and a quick (on scale of flight time of electrons in an accelerating gap) interception of particles reflected from a magnetic mirror. In result, the parameters of the SEB have been obtained, which are suitable for work of a gyrotron up to currents of 0.5—0.7 from Langmuir current of a gun. The indicated systems of forming the SEB have allowed to achieve an efficiency of a gyrotron such as 40—50 % at the 280-keV energy of particles.
