Improvement of sparkover mechanism

A. A. Zhukov

Condition of a spark breakdown of a homogeneous gap is offered. It is taken into consi- deration distribution of excited atoms along a path of a primary avalanche and only those second electrons, which appears from “active area cathode”. Accounts of breakdown voltage at normal atmospheric pressure for gaps length from 0,01 up to 20 cm for air and nitrogen are made. The theoretical magnitudes are satisfactory agree with published experimental data. Condition of a spark breakdown of a homogeneous gap is offered.
