On the origin of critical refraction in a toroidal plasma vortex

   We discuss the growth of the free electron concentration at the edge of a toroidal plasma vortex provided by the thermal electron emission from the surface of aerosol particulates. According to our estimations, the increase in electron concentration may yield trapping and canalizing the optical radiation.
