POWER SUPPLY FOR ARC WELDING IN A SLOT HOLE

V. O. Bushma

There is shown, that between the form of plate's electrode melting zone and volt-ampere characteristic of the power supply exists mutual conformity. The volt-ampere characteristic of the power supply for arc welding by means of stationary melting electrode is offered. Using it, under the horizontal scheme it is possible to receive qualitative arc welded connections with the thickness up to 45 mm. The functional block diagram of a source, realizing such characteristic is given. The influence of a source's characteristic on the processes of basic metal's heating and melting is noted. The influence of the distributed welding bath on the external characteristic of the power supply is considered. The power supply is offered, which volt-ampere characteristic is formed by means of the microprocessor controller. The algorithm of controller's management is based on measurement in real time of two parameters: arc's tension and current and management of the characteristic's kind of a source and speed of melting of plate's electrode.
